"The Bible is a wonderful book, and tells a wonderful story. Actually it tells many stories which combine to form a history, the greatness of which is not seen until the end is reached, and "the kingdoms of this world become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ." ( Revelation 11:15)"

"The Son of God is the true Light: but the servant shall even be as his Master. It is not enough for the disciple merely to look upon the true light and be enlightened himself. He must then become a lightbearer himself, and the living fellowship of cross-bearing believers together becomes a world-illumining beacon-light. Not only "I am the light of the world" now, but "you are the light of the world" (Matthew 5:14) are the Master’s words. Such is our precious privilege and our solemn responsibility."

"The fleeting things of our everyday life fill our consciousness so completely that unless we deliberately determine to put them aside and concentrate our attention on the unseen and eternal things, we are in danger of succumbing to the domination of the ephemeral and losing all touch with the eternal. Such domination leads inevitably to death. Our modern civilization tends to emphasise this domination of the temporal."

"The stones in God’s sanctuary are persons. The foundation stones are the apostles and prophets, but the keystone is Jesus himself. The other stones are those who accept his call and remain faithful. The building will not be completed until Jesus returns. Revelation 21 describes the finished sanctuary in which God will dwell on the earth and in which each stone will possess His glorious nature. This is still future, but the building is now growing into an holy temple in the Lord. Stone is being fitted to stone as men and women accept Jesus and subject themselves to the necessary preparation. It is our duty, as individuals and as an ecclesia, to do everything possible to assist in the building up of God’s dwelling-place. Thus we become fellow-workers for God, and, with God, builders of God’s house (2 Corinthians 6:1; 1 Corinthians 3:9 (RSV); 1 Corinthians 3)."

"If you go round the whole circle of nature, you will find beneficence the ultimate law of wisdom. Yet the rules of wisdom are never slackened to give beneficence a longer rope. Justice and righteousness hold the reins with unflinching hand. Their end is good, but they are never sacrificed or compromised for a presumed good."

- Robert Roberts
Ambassador (1868)
