THE ORIGINAL GOSPEL

A brief review of the basic teachings of the Old and New Testament.

As Given in the Psalms, by The Prophets, by the Lord Jesus Christ, and by The Apostles.

("Go ye into all the world & preach the gospel to every creature". Mark 16. 15) (Jesus)

A Personal Note to the Reader

Over the centuries there have been many changes in Church thought, belief, customs and outlook.

Yet there is but ONE GOSPEL, ONE GOD, ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST, ONE HOPE OF ISRAEL and ONE TRUE BIBLE.

Reader, we ask you, will you open the Word of God and check its teachings with current beliefs? The result may be amazing to you, but it will give you satisfaction and reassurance, and give you a peace that passes understanding.

After all, LIFE, without God and His Son, is barren and meaningless.

Now this is what the Bible says

1. THERE IS ONE GOD, who has NO EQUAL.

Deut 6. 4; 2 Sam. 7. 22; 1 Kings 8. 23; 1 Chron. 17. 20; Psalm 86. 10; Isaiah 44. 8, Ch. 45. 5, Ch. 46. 5; Mark 12. 29; John 17. 3; 1 Cor. 8. 6; Eph. 4. 6; 1 Tim. 1. 17.

2. THERE IS ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST, Saviour and Mediator, in whom is the ONLY WAY of Salvation, soon to return to this earth to reign over it.

1. 17, Ch. 2. 5. Isa. 53. 6; Matt. 20. 28; Luke 2. 11; John 17. 3; Acts 1. 11; Acts 4. 12; Acts 13. 23; 1 Tim. 2. 5; 1 John 4. 14.

3. THERE IS ONLY ONE HOLY SPIRIT, which is the POWER of God, by which He works.

Gen. 1. 2; Judges 14. 6; Matt. 1. 18; Luke 1. 35; Luke 12. 12; Acts 7. 55; Rom. 15. 19; Heb. 2. 4; 2 Pet. 1. 21.

4. THERE IS ONLY ONE GREAT COVENANT, which is the Hope of the World, sealed by the blood of Jesus on Calvary—the Covenant made with Abraham.

Gen. 12. 3; Gen. 18. 18; Gen. 26. 3; Gen. 28. 14; Micah 7. 20; Luke 1. 72; Acts 7. 5; 3. 25; Acts 26. 6; Rom. 15. 8; Gal. 3. 8; Heb. 6. 13; ch. 11. 13.

5. THERE IS ONLY ONE SOURCE OF INFORMATION as to God's Plan and Purpose with this earth, THE WORD OF GOD.

Isa. 8. 20; Luke 16. 31; John 5. 39; Acts 28. 23; Rom. 15. 4; 2 Tim. 3. 16; 2 Pet. 1. 21.

6. THERE IS ONE GREAT ENEMY OF MAN—Sin, which entered in Eden, styled the DEVIL, against which Christians have a life-long struggle.

Gen. 3. 15; 1 Kings 8. 46; Isa. 53. 6; Matt. 15. 18-20; Matt. 16. 23; Acts 10. 38; Rom. 3. 12; Rom. 5. 12; Rom. 7. 23; Heb. 2. 14; James 1. 14; 1 Pet 5. 8.

7. THERE IS NO GREATER TRUTH than that Death came by sin, and that in death there is no consciousness.

Job 3. 17-18, Ch. 14. 2; Ecc. 9. 5-6; Psalm 6. 5, Ch. 17. 15, Ch. 39. 13; Psalm 115. 17; Psalm 146. 4; Isa. 38. 18; Dan. 12. 2; Rom. 5. 12; Rom. 6. 23; 1 Cor. 15. 21.

8. THERE IS NO SURER FACT than that Hell (or Hades) is the grave, to which all go at death.

Gen. 15. 15; Psalm 6. 5; Psalm 31. 17; Psalm 89. 48; Psalm 115. 17; Ecc. 3. 20; Ecc. 6. 6; Isa. 38. 18; Matt. 11. 23; Acts 2. 27-31; 1 Cor 15. 54-55.

9. THERE IS THE OBVIOUS TRUTH that the word "SOUL" (Heb., "Nephesh"; Gr., "Psuche") means primarily LIFE, and ALL creatures that possess that life are shown to be subject to death—

Job 7. 15; Psalm 22. 29; Psalm 33. 19; Psalm 78. 50; Ezek. 18. 4; Matt. 26. 38; James 5. 20; Rev. 16. 3 Soul goes into the grave (or hell)—Job 33. 22; Psalm 89. 48; Proverbs 23. 14; Isa. 38. 17; Acts 2. 31. Can be destroyed—Lev. 23. 30; Numbers 15. 31; Joshua 10. 28; Matt 10. 28; Acts 3. 23.

10. THERE IS NOTHING MORE WONDERFUL than the Resurrection, which will take place when Jesus returns.

Dan. 12. 2; Matt 22. 30; Luke 14. 14; John 5. 29; John 6. 40; John 11:24-25; Acts 23. 6; Rom. 6. 5; 1 Cor. 15. 12; 1 Thess. 4. 16.

11. THERE IS THE JUDGMENT DAY for accountable ones, which they MUST face—at the Return of Jesus.

Psalm 98. 9; Matt 8. 12; John 5. 22-27; John 11. 24; Acts 17. 31; Acts 24. 15; Rom. 14. 10; 2 Cor. 5. 10; 2 Tim. 4. 1; 1 Pet 4. 17; Rev. 20. 12.

12. THERE IS THE PRIZE OF ETERNAL LIFE, which will be awarded to the faithful, dead or alive, at Christ's coming.

Isa. 40. 10-11; Dan. 12. 2; Matt 8. 11; 16. 27; 24. 31; Luke 13. 28; John 5. 29; John 6. 40; 1 Cor. 15. 23; 2 Cor. 5. 10; 2 Tim. 4. 8; 1 Thess. 4. 16; Rev. 22. 12.

13. THERE IS ETERNAL DEATH for the unfaithful, with "weeping and gnashing of teeth" when they are rejected at Christ's coming.

1 Sam. 2. 9; Ezek. 18. 4; Matt. 7. 21-23; Matt 8. 12; Matt 13. 41; Matt. 25. 46; Luke 13. 28; John 5. 29; Acts 24. 15; 2 Cor. 5. 10; 2 Thess. 1. 8-9.

14. THERE IS THE DIVINE ASSURANCE that the accepted ones will reign with Jesus on the earth during the Millennium (the 1000 years of Peace on earth).

Psalm 72; Dan. 2. 44; Dan. 7. 27; Zech. 9. 10; Luke 1. 30-33; Rev. 5. 10; Rev. 20. 6.

15. THERE IS THE GUARANTEE that Jesus will return VISIBLY AND BODILY, and sit upon a literal throne. THE THRONE OF DAVID, IN JERUSALEM.

2 Sam. 7. 12-16; Psa. 89. 19-37; Isa. 9. 6-7; Isa. 33. 17; Ezek. 21. 26; Dan. 7. 27; Zeph 2. 11; Zech. 12. 10; Matt. 16. 28; Matt 25. 31-32; Mark 13. 26; Mark 14. 62; Luke 13. 35; Luke 21. 27; Acts 1. 11; Rev. 1. 7, Ch. 2. 27.

Meanwhile David's throne is non existent.

Psa. 89. 39-44; Ezek. 21. 26-27; Amos 9. 11; Acts 1. 6, Ch. 15. 15-16, Ch. 17. 31; Rom. 15. 12; Rev. 11. 15, Ch. 15. 4.

16. THERE IS THE DIVINE FIAT that Jerusalem will be the Capital City of the world during the reign of Jesus.

Psalm 48. 2; Isa. 2. 1-4; Isa. 24. 23; Isa. 33. 20; Isa. 60. 14; Jer. 3. 17; Joel 3. 16; Micah 4. 2-8; Zech. 1. 17; Zech. 8. 22; Zech. 14. 16; Matt 5. 34-35; Luke 19. 42.

17. THERE IS THE VISIBLE, GREAT "LATTER-DAY" Sign of God, that the nation of Israel, scattered by Him to all parts of the world, has been partly regathered to their land, as promised, and now occupies all Jerusalem in readiness for the Lord's Return.

Isa. 11. 11-12; Jer. 32. 37; Jer. 31. 10-28; Ezek. 11. 17; Ezek. 36. 24; Ezek. 37. 3-14; Matt. 23. 39; Rom. 11. 12, 15, 26.

18. THERE IS THE COMMAND OF JESUS AND THE APOSTLES that Belief, Repentance, and Baptism (by full immersion) into Christ, is essential for Salvation.

Matt 28. 19; Mark 16. 16; John 3. 23; Acts 2. 38; Acts 10. 47; Acts 16. 31-32; Acts 22. 16; Rom. 6. 3-4; Gal. 3. 27-29; Col. 2. 12; Eph. 4. 5; 1 Pet 3. 21.

19. THERE IS THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT that holiness, right living, and the desire to please God in daily life MUST be carried out.

Zech. 14. 20; Rom. 6. 19; 2 Cor. 7. 1; Phil. 4. 8; Col. 3. 8; 1 Thess. 3. 13; 1. Thess. 4. 7; 1 Tim. 2. 15; Titus 2. 12.

20. THERE IS THE CERTAINTY that Salvation cannot be gained except through Jesus Christ.

Matt. 1. 21; Acts 4. 12; John 11. 25; John 15. 4.

AND THE SIGN OF THE TRUE CHRISTIAN is one who daily practices love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance; against such there is no law Galatians 5. 22

THE OLD PATHS ARE THE RIGHT PATHS

"THUS SAITH THE LORD, stand ye in the ways, and ask for the old paths where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6. 16

THE GREATEST SIGN FOR US TODAY that the Lord's return is very near is seen in the unparalleled era of World-conflict, Universal fear, gigantic war preparation, and the unique Sign of Israel's return from more than 100 lands - just as forecast by the Bible. And now the MOST WONDERFUL SIGN of all; Israel having possession of the Old City of Jerusalem, the west bank of the Jordan, the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights. The Climax of Christ's return is very near. God is about to sanctify His great Name through Israel, before all nations (Ezekiel 39. 27)
