"There is no community on earth as blessed as we are, no fellowship so wonderful as ours. Let us rise up and build in these last days for the honour of God and of His Christ, and for the well-being of all of us in preserving the truth in word and deed."

"Religious practices and traditions can get absorbed into our worship, for no other reason than that they appeal to us. And the attitudes and priorities of worldly thinking are always a potent influence, because we are naturallyinclined towards such thinking. All these, and many other things, can gradually water down or quite alter the things that we believe. So, whilst we need to move with the times, to present the gospel in the most attractive and topical way, we must beware of mixing things up and thus losing our way with God ..."

"There is a natural tendency to feel somewhat resentful when ills come upon us, whether they be ills spiritual or physical, but we can always find someone in still worse plight, and in helping them we shall undoubtedly find the best remedy and answer to our own problems. There is, of course, one perfect answer, and only one. It takes the form of a cross, which bore a perfect man to a cruel death. He was not even resentful."

"No man can search out the Almighty unless He reveals Himself. So in Jesus we have the Lord of Hosts showing the love of His nature. In His declaration, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased”, we realize he is touched with our joys. If He can be afflicted in our affliction, He can also joy in our joys. He shows in His word how He has by His own design incorporated us into His purpose in order that we may joy in His joy. It would be foolish to believe that we are the only ones to benefit. God must have His own share of rejoicing."
