Australia's first Bible Museum is now open! Free entry to all, including guided tours. Please contact us first if you are making a long journey to visit us to ensure we will be open. See the 'What's New' page to catch up with us.

The museum contains more than 1100 Bibles, together with models and artefacts associated with the Bible message. There are educational displays of many types, including the history of the Bible in English.

The Bible collection has original Bibles that were printed 400 years ago, as well as the most recent modern editions. The collected age of the Bibles is about 15,000 years!

The majority of the Bibles are in English, but many other languages are included: there are Bibles from every continent, and many islands: Australian Aborigine, Eskimo, Hebrew, Greek, etc......

The Bibles range in size from large Victorian "Family" Bibles, to miniatures that require a magnifying glass to read them. Their bindings include covers made from vellum, velvet, olive wood, mother-of-pearl and tin, as well as the more common leathers. Some of the Bibles have brass buckles, many have gilt edges and many are beautifully illustrated. The collection also includes models, musical instruments, oils, models and lamps - all included in the one hour free guided tour!

St Arnaud is a historic town at the crossroads of the Sunraysia and Wimmera Highways. It is about an hour's drive west of Bendigo, or north of Ballarat. Make an extended day trip from Melbourne, or stay overnight.

Whether your interest is in books in general, or religion, we are sure that you will enjoy a visit to The Bible Museum.

Large Solomon's Temple Model

by The Bible Museum

"We are creating a large scale model of Solomon's Temple, which will be based as accurately as possible on the Bible description.

The model is for educational purposes and will be on permanent display to the general public. It will be several metres wide/long and surrounded with display panels, with information about the Temple and life at the time of King Solomon in Israel.

The Temple Model

The Temple building model will be primarily constructed out of polystyrene foam, which is then coated on the outside with a special coating, which can be carved. The interior will be lined with wood, carved by a specialist woodcarver with flowers, palm trees and cherubims, as per the Biblical description, then covered with gold leaf. Other items, such as the altars, shewbread table, laver, cloths, etc, will be made to scale. Artists will be commissioned to bring the Temple to life in paintings, which will be used for the construction.

One wall of the building will be removed to show the interior layout and features, such as the Most Holy Place with the 'Ark of the Covenant' and cherubims."
